This program change originated through the SCMA Dean's Office, including the Associate Dean.
There are three main reasons we are making changes to the current program of study:
1) We are removing ECO 101 as a required/core course because it is no longer a required prerequisite for MKT 250 (another core course for the minor). We are moving ECO 101 to an elective option. We are also removing the internship requirement and making an internship (ART 498, BRC 498, CMA 498, COM 498, MUS 498, PRL 498 [new], or THT 498) an elective option.
2) We are expanding the elective offerings in the minor by adding new choices: PRL 318, MGT 360, and MKT 360.
3) We are offering more elective flexibility to students interested in pursuing the minor to better align with career goals, while still maintaining a robust set of core courses. Instead of one elective course, now students will be able to choose three elective courses.
Letters of support are provided from SCMA, Communication Studies, ECO, and MKT/MGT.
